Q. What devices are compatible with toddlermonitor?
toddlermonitor is compatible with iOS and Android devices only. Phones with Windows OS or Blackberry OS are explicitly not supported by toddlermonitor.
toddlermonitor is compatible with the following iOS devices running iOS 11 and newer:
- iPhone 6* or newer
- iPad (Regular, Pro or Mini)
*Please note that while the iPhone 5S (and iPhone SE) are compatible with the toddlermonitor app, the screen size is unofficially supported. This means there may be visual bugs on-screen but the app will retain all proper functionalities.
New iOS devices will be supported as they become available, as long as they have Bluetooth 4.0 support. Please note that users running any beta versions may encounter app stability issues.
What Android phones will toddlermonitor officially work with? As long as the devices listed below are running Android 6.0 or newer, they are officially compatible with toddlermonitor!
- Google Pixel/XL and Pixel 2/2 XL
- Samsung Galaxy (S5 or newer)
- Samsung Note 8
- Nexus (5X or newer)
There are many different Android devices on the market. If your Android device is not on this official compatibility list, that means we have not officially tested toddlermonitor with your device type. There is a good chance toddlermonitor is compatible as long as your device is running Android 6.0 or newer and has Bluetooth 4.0, but we cannot guarantee the same level of technical support in troubleshooting scenarios.
Note that OnePlus devices may have connectivity and activation issues with specific toddlermonitor products. Good news! OnePlus’ Official Stable Update 9.0.4 is now slowly rolling out to fix this issue. Those in the OnePlus Beta can download Open Beta 12.
Q. What devices are not compatible with toddlermonitor?
Any devices that do not have Bluetooth 4.0 or BLE, will not work. These devices do not have the hardware to communicate with our toddlermonitor hardware or companion app.
Any devices running not-yet-completed Operating System versions (ex: iOS or Android Beta releases) may experience technical difficulties. The toddlermonitor app is tested with and intended to be used by mobile devices running full, public-release versions of the iOS and Android Operating Systems.
Q. What should I do if I am having issues with the Android App?
We had reports from Android users about the app closing unexpectedly about 5 minutes after the device is set and giving an alert that the application has closed. This issue has been introduced as part of a recent Android update.
Our development team has addressed this issue and released a new version of the app! Please go to Google Play and update your version of the app.
Q. What if my child tries to take it off the door?
The toddlermonitor™ senses motion. If the device is set to "on guard" and a child moves a door, or touches him, you will receive the alert. Motion, regardless of what the cause is will trigger an alert. You can also use and over-the-door hook or a 3M Command hook and hang the toddlermonitor™ up high if you don't want your child to touch him.
Q. I turn my phone to "Do Not Disturb" at night, will the notifications push through?
For iOS devices, this is core functionality on the most recent app. You will receive notification if your phone is in any mode, including silent or "Do Not Disturb". Ensure that you are running the most recent app version available in the Apple iTunes Store for the optimum functionality.
For Android devices, users can choose to allow the app to override the "Do Not Disturb" function on their phone. This is done by going into Settings selecting "Apps", selecting the toddlermonitor™ app from the list, going to Notifications and selecting "Do not disturb overridden".
Q. How do I control the volume of the alerts I receive?
Volume is controlled by the external volume buttons on the side of your phone. You will still receive alerts if your phone is on “Do Not Disturb” or silenced using the toggle on your phone, but the volume does need to be turned to the desired level.
For Android devices, users need to choose to allow the app to override the "Do Not Disturb" function on their phone. This is done by going into Settings selecting "Apps", selecting the toddlermonitor™ app from the list, going to Notifications and selecting "Do not disturb overridden".
Q. I am a heavy sleeper, will I be able to hear the alerts?
toddlermonitor™ alerts in similar tones and volume to your phone alarm. If this level of alert would wake you, then you would be able to be alerted by the toddlermonitor™. You have the ability to tailor the style and volume of alert to suit your needs.
Q. How sensitive is the motion detection?
We understand that Toddlers can be sneaky, so we allow for three levels of sensitivity to meet your families' needs. At the highest setting the device is extremely sensitive and will register subtle movement. We suggest you start at the highest sensitivity and reduce the level if you are getting false alerts.
Q. Is Bluetooth range sufficient to cover my house?

While this will vary in homes based on the construction we are seeing excellent coverage of a 2000 – 3000 square foot home and have had full coverage of homes up to 5000 square feet.
